Comparison of David Clark Headset with Avcomm headset

Pilots have a tough and stressful job and while they may enjoy it they also need to be comfortable at all times. This includes their headset. There are lots of different headsets on the market and some of the most popular are the David Clark, Avcomm, and Telex headset. A comparison of the David Clark and Avcomm headsets will show what the benefits to each are and what pilots should look for.

David Clark Headset One particular David Clark headset is the X11P. This particular headset is made for cockpits that have a six pin jack. There is a panel mount connector kit available if the cockpit does not have the six pin jack. Once installed the David Clark headset may be used with no problems whatsoever. There are some benefits to this particular headset. It has a dual hinge suspension that makes it fit everyone wonderfully. In fact, you can personalize the fit just for you. The suspension is also low force so it doesn't hurt your head. The headband is also very strong and durable because it is made from a carbon fiber that is really lightweight. The headband also has a vented head pad to keep your head a comfortable temperature while you are flying. Ear seals are filled with gel that ensures sealing is proper and that they are super comfortable. The ear phones have dual volume controls and they also boast the ENC technology. This is basically a dual voice coil that assists with reducing pilot fatigue. The headset is powered by two AA batteries that last about 30 hours. There are also inputs for auxiliary music and cell phones.

Avcomm Headset Another great headset is the Avcomm headset. There have been some different models produced over the last few years and an example of these is the AC-900. This headset is available in British Racing Green and it is actually fairly light as it weighs less than a pound. In fact, it weighs 14.7 ounces and it is very comfortable to wear thanks to gel ear seals, full flex boom, a push to talk switch built right in, and plenty of other features as well. The noise rating is 23 dB and may be switched between mono and stereo. Another model is the AC-250. This model is made specifically for children and adults who are small. The petite sized headset has ear domes that are red. The volume control is large, ear seals are made of foam, and the microphone is five way.
